Coretex Consulting have been providing support to the AMPOL Future Fuels Project which aims to reduce sulphur from 150ppmw to 10ppmw across all fuel grades at Lytton Refinery.
The project includes:
Greenfield scope, which covers the new Gasoline Treatment Unit (GTU), hot oil infrastructure, cooling
tower and associated auxiliaries, to be constructed in a dedicated plot space.
Brownfield scope, which covers scope to be implemented within existing refinery units and pipe racks.
This includes scope to tie-in the GTU feed, products, and utilities streams to the operating refinery, as
well as modifications to existing refinery units to provide the hydrogen required by the GTU.
Principal Human Factors Consultants at Coretex Consulting have been provided support across 3D model review and dedicated Human Factors Workshops. These Human Factors Workshops aim to take risk based approach to review and optimise operability and maintainability of the work environment using design drawings and 3D Models. It also aims to minimise the likelihood of human failure and mitigate against its consequences.
Specific objectives include:
- Systematically work through each item within the project Human Factors Issues Register (HFIR) closing out where possible or capturing justification for a deviation to be reviewed by AMPOL.
- Systematically identify all hazards which can potentially lead to Major Incidents (MIs) where human failure may be a contributing factor.
- Assess the risks of human failure, with identified controls in place.
- Identify potential risk design measures to mitigate the risk of human failure.
- Assess compliance against AMPOL’s Human Factors requirements.
