Human Performance / Human Factors in Mining and Exploration.

Coretex Consulting has recently been working with two Mining Companies across both Western and South Australia to support human performance within their drilling and exploration activities. This included both human reliability studies to prevent errors and optimise performance during sampling activities, and manual task studies to mitigate the risk of musculoskeletal disorder through improved design of plant and equipment.

The project was it two parts, the first to implement improvements to the current process and the second to study the process itself and begin to develop human factors engineering strategies to optimise the design of a new purpose-built Core Shed.

Given the remote nature of exploration activities design controls can often be challenging due to the lack of infrastructure available. Therefore, by working closely with the teams onsite and applying sound principles of human factors / performance several design improvements were identified to support human reliability and the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders.

For support with Human Factors Engineering Coretex Consulting can provide Principal and Senior Human Factors Consultants which specialist across a wide range of high risk industries.
